Through local events and school outreach, Grassroots Texas provides supplies, raise funds, and educates peers on the refugee experience.

Texas has always been defined by its roots—from the Caddo word táysha meaning 'friends' to the modern diversity of Houston's 145 languages. But for a migrant, arriving is only the first step.

My journey with Grassroots began in right here at home in Texas, where I volunteered with families navigating their first days in America. I realized that while food and shelter are immediate needs, the most sustainable tool for integration is voice. When a person can share their story, network, and advocate for themselves, they move from being a 'case number' to being a neighbor. Grassroots exists to provide that platform.
